ARTIST BIO
Robert Perucci studied Fine Art at
State University of New York at New Paltz, where he experimented with various
materials and techniques, including metalsmithing. He began working at Argos
Art Casting Foundry in 2000, learning every aspect of the Lost Wax casting
process from dipping ceramic shells to pouring metal and metal finishing. As
Head Finisher and Fabricator, Bob worked with many acclaimed artists such as
Leslie Dill, Diana Moore, Don Gummer, Shelly Bradbury, Beverly Seaman, Richard
Erdman, and Judd Hartmann.
Throughout his nine years at Argos, he worked on several large-scale public projects including The Fountain at Wylie Inn and Conference Center, Beverly, MA; 9/11 Memorial at the County Courthouse Plaza, Norristown, PA; Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at the Westchester County Courthouse, White Plains, NY; Christopher Columbus Statue at Hudson Park. New Rochelle, NY; Guide Dog Statue at the Guiding Eyes for the Blind Headquarters and Training Center, Yorktown Heights, NY; Fallen Firefighter's Memorial at the Lt. Michael E. Neuner Fire Headquarters, Brewster, NY; Hammer Throw Connolly Memorial at the William Howard Taft Middle School, Brighton, MA. He began teaching Metal Sculpture and Jewelry classes at Silvermine Guild Art Center in 2009. In the fall of 2010 he resurrected the school's abandoned bronze casting foundry, and is currently teaching Bronze Casting, Metal Sculpture, and Intermediate/Advanced Jewelry and Silversmithing.
In 2005, Perucci began his own fabrication studio, 3rd Rail Studio, in New Rochelle, NY, where he continues to work on personal projects as well as commissions, restorations and collaborations with other artists.
